Kim has been at the forefront of the AI technological wave and has helped shape the strategy and AI patent portfolios of several of the world’s largest patent filers. Kim was rated as a Rising Star 2022 by Managing IP in recognition of her expertise in this area. She has spoken widely on the subject and was an invited Speaker at the recent WIPO-KIPO Interactive Online Workshop on AI & IP. Kim has also been a regular contributor to the IAM magazine’s thought leadership section on AI. Kim is a strategic thinker and loves helping her clients navigate the complex legal framework surrounding AI to obtain commercially valuable Intellectual Property, keeping detectability, licensing and potential litigation at the front of her thinking.
As well as Machine Learning, Kim has extensive experience and interest in helping clients protect inventions in Imaging and Image analysis, particularly Medical Imaging. After a period of research at Cambridge University, Kim was awarded a doctorate (PhD) in Astronomy. This work involved compiling and analysing images from the Hubble Space Telescope and the Very Large Telescope (VLT) in Chile, and gave her a thorough technical grounding in Image Processing and Data Analysis.
Kim also has a good understanding of the commercial importance of IP to start-ups, which she gained in her work as a Software Engineer and through co-founding a software startup prior to joining the patent profession.
Aside from IP, Kim loves anything active, from Pilates to Mountain Biking, as well as being in the outdoors with her young family.
Contact Kim for IP advice on AI, Machine Learning, Quantum Computing, Data Analysis, MedTech, Image Analysis, Medical Imaging, Telecoms, Autonomous Vehicles & Consumer Electronics.
