Thank you
Edward studied Engineering Science at Oxford University, Lincoln College, where he studied a wide range of topics such as solid mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials and structures. His research explored the design of novel miniature tension-torsion experimental stages for in-situ micromechanical testing, demonstrating that stages on this scale are not only possible but feasible and applicable in several different sectors within the realm of material testing. The theory was awarded the University's Gibbs Prize in Engineering Science and the practicality was explored in his dissertation, which was awarded a first class grade.
Edward joined Keltie in 2023 following over three years training at another patent law firm. He has experience working with a wide range of clients, from large industrial production companies to boutique university spin-outs. He is part-qualified and is working towards European and UK qualification.

Women and IP: a continuing journeyIt’s now over 30 years since I joined the patent attorney profession. When I started, there were relatively few female patent attorneys, partly due to much lower numbers of women studying STEM subjects at university. I recall I was one of about six women in a cohort of 90 studying chemistry at Imperial College, and there were even fewer in the engineering departments. Today, thankfully there are more women in the profession – but there are still things we need to improve.
